Tips To Make Your Christmas Sparkle

Tips To Make Your Christmas Sparkle

It’s Christmas time once again. The festivities are upon us and everyone is running around trying to buy what they need and inevitably what they don’t.

The kids want the tree and the trimmings up even if we’d rather wait a few more days. I always tell myself I’ll be more organised next year and not be so rushed, but of-course I never am.

Anyway, enough about me. Today I am going to share a few of my Christmas decorating ideas to hopefully save you a few pennies and make your Christmas sparkle a little bit more.

Having moved house and downsized, I now have a lot more baubles and tinsel than I actually need. So, I decided to make some very classy looking decorations with my left overs.

Step 1

First grab all your empty glass jars or vases. Then grab your left over baubles or even the old ones you have replaced and any left over tinsel.

That’s the most work you have to do right there. Once you have gathered all you need the rest is easy.

I have only hung bows on my tree this year so nearly all my baubles are redundant. Here you can see my square vase, 7 spare baubles, 1 piece of tinsel and 1 small  string of wireless lights.

The latter were from IKEA for €1.99, peanuts right?

Step 2

Wrap the lights around the tinsel then drop into the vase. One by one pop in as many or as few baubles as you wish. You can use any colours, they will all look stunning when it gets dark.

The lights will reflect off the tinsel and baubles causing some beautiful shadows on your walls. The glass when illuminated gives a very classy, expensive feel, even though we didn’t spend a lot at all.

If you don’t have an IKEA nearby or you cant get hold of any lights you can always use any spare ones from your tree.

If you don’t have any lights then no worries you can still make a fabulous vase without lights too.

These also look beautiful and give a very classy Christmas touch to a table or mantlepiece.

If you do have access to an IKEA then the small lights are a really cheap way of adding some sparkle to your decoration. Take this table centrepiece that was just pine cones and pine needles. I added a few baubles, a string of lights and a few sprigs of shiny stuff and Voila!

I also added a few candles to the mix to finish off the flashy festive look.

I hope there is something here that takes your fancy and I look forward to seeing what you come up with on your own.
